Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games claims that its upcoming Game Boy-style Soulslike meets Metroidvania mash-up, Mina the Hollower, will be even bigger than every game in the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove combined. Mina the Hollower has been over six years in the making, and people have been waiting for its release since its early 2022 Kickstarter success. The mouse mechanic was scheduled to make her debut on October 31, 2025, but was indefinitely delayed shortly before release. During the recent PlayStation State of Play, Mina's new spring 2026 release window was announced alongside a PlayStation-exclusive demo. Yacht Club Games has followed up the showcase announcement with more details about the weapon-wielding rodent's impending launch saying, "the end is now in sight." A press release from the studio further explains that, "players will face more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses, discover 60 Trinkets, upgrade their weapons, grow stronger through a full level-up system, explore New Game Plus, and experiment with hundreds of gameplay modifiers. Bringing a game of this scope and density to a state of final polish has taken time, but the end is now in sight." Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is a collection of five games centered around the first campaign in the series, Shovel of Hope. It includes three further 2D platforming games of the similar length to, or longer than, Shovel Knight's story featuring other knights. The final entry King of Cards even includes a full deck builder inside the platformer. The final Treasure Trove title is Shovel Knight Showdown, a Super Smash Bros. style fighting game. The fact that Mina the Hollower is bigger than all five of these games combined helps us understand why it's taken so long to release the rodent out into the world. Generally not bad. 😆 I'd give it a 3/10. hot stuff Feels like a full game.
