Hytale's developers are reminiscing about the game's development as it's finally set to release after 10 years of work.
Hytale had a rough time; starting in 2015, things were looking good, with a sale to League of Legends and Valorant developer Riot Games. However, soon after developer Hypixel said it was rebooting the entire game, and after many years of development, the game was abruptly canceled and its studio was closed in the middle of 2025. But thankfully, before the year was out, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme acquired the game rights, with plans to release it into early access as soon as possible.
And we're now at the release date of the Minecraft-inspired RPG, with it set to launch later today – with the game expected to bring in "over 1 million players" at launch – and the game's developers are reminiscing on Hytale's long development. Over on the game's subreddit, a user has compiled some of the posts from developers ahead of its launch.

Sound designer Oscar Garvin says, "I can't sleep Hytale is releasing." He adds, "On Feb 1st I'll have worked on Hytale for 10 years, together with many of my talented colleagues. It's difficult to find the words right now, but I'm excited. And I know you are too. Have fun and enjoy our game."
Meanwhile, Hytale Creative Mode engineer Carter "Ktar" Gale adds, "Hytale tomorrow. I'm at peace. The creative tools feel great. Work to do of course. Couldn't be more excited to launch this game with this team. So much talent and passion from every single member."
Hypixel IT lead DevSlashNull says, "Going to bed knowing tomorrow we get to press the button we've waited 10 years to push, we can't wait to see you all in game tomorrow." They also responded to artist Polina a few hours later saying "who needs sleep anyways," suggesting it wasn't a successful bedtime.
Hytale lead previously told a fan his "dream" feature was just a dream, but a one-word follow-up suggests it's real
