The new production plan suggests Nintendo may sell as many as 20 million units this fiscal year. Recent sales statistics for the US, Nintendo's largest market, show that Switch 2 sales for its first three months are trending a staggering 77% ahead of the original Switch in the comparable time period. Nintendo went into the Switch 2's launch aggressively, building up inventory prior to launch in an effort to avoid the supply shortages that impacted both Microsoft and Sony's latest major console releases. The strategy has worked out for Nintendo so far, and even with its high production schedule the Switch 2 has often been hard to find in some markets.
