Mewgenics creator Edmund McMillen has confirmed both a console port and DLC for the cat breeding roguelike. Mewgenics has launched as one of the biggest games of 2026 so far, with a massive concurrent player count on Steam that saw it beat out The Binding of Isaac's peak, and eventually overtake roguelite titan Hades 2. And that's on top of being the highest-reviewed game of 2026 so far and making its budget back in just three hours, so it's safe to say people like collecting cats and breeding them to form the greatest cat army known to man. But of course, it being a PC-only release has people wondering the obvious: when is Mewgenics coming to the Switch or Switch 2 (and other consoles, but you can't play them in the litter box, can you?). Plus, if somehow people weren't satisfied with what has to be 200+ hours of game (I've played 110 and my save is still only at about 60% completion) they want to know what the plan is for DLC, and if it will become like The Binding Of Isaac which started massive and got overwhelming. The Binding of Isaac lead says "I think we will have a few DLCs to make" for upcoming roguelike Mewgenics The Binding of Isaac creator's new roguelike Mewgenics already has over a third of the achievements of Isaac despite it being 11 years and 3 expansions ahead Mewgenics eyes Steam roguelike record held by Hades 2 as the cat breeding sim surpasses The Binding of Isaac McMillen – presumably after being hounded by questions for the past week – posted on Twitter with a list of bullet points confirming that yes, Mewgenics is "coming to consoles," and yes, "there will be DLC" (alongside news about the OST, merch, and bug fixes). There aren't any concrete dates or details for any of this, and despite initially saying there would be some free DLC, McMillen confirms in the responses that any upcoming DLC won't be free, although I assume this means there could be silly DLC for free (like costumes), while any substantial expansions – like we saw with The Binding Of Isaac – will likely be paid. The Wrath of the Lamb expansion for the original release of The Binding of Isaac released about eight months after the original release, while the Afterbirth expansion for The Binding of Isaac Rebirth launched just under a year later than the base game. So it's probably best not to expect Mewgenics to get its first expansion for at least a year, and maybe even longer considering how massive the base game is. There's 200 Simpsons-inspired intros in Mewgenics, and I'm ashamed I didn't notice sooner: "There's like 200 couch gags"
