The mere existence of Hytale is ambitious in itself, since the Minecraft-inspired sandbox game was saved from cancellation by original studio Hypixel, with a planned release this month. But after one fan literally dreamed of a version with trees that would actively grow fruit over and over, such a mechanic may now be among the aspirations of the developers themselves. In response, Collins-Laflamme mentioned that Hytale has bushes full of berries, "but no fruit trees yet!" Really, that could've been the end of it. A frank, reasonable reply to someone's desires in a project that's already composed of many, many spinning plates. After miracle revival, Hytale head "now assembling a dedicated team" to satisfy fans of a key genre that's only grown since the Minecraft-inspired game's reveal: cozy and farming games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing Fresh from bringing his canceled Minecraft competitor back from the dead, Hytale boss shares new gameplay footage as "a taste of things to come" – but there's still "a lot of work" to be done Minecraft lead says "I'm looking forward to Hytale" personally, but tells curious fans "there are many Minecraft-like games, so I doubt it will change much for us" But then, a sliver of hope: "Actually," says Collins-Laflamme in a follow-up post, over a week later. No elaboration or further context is given. Prowl8413 tries prodding for more information, but nothing is forthcoming. Thus, the only logical conclusion we can make is that Hytale is going to be full of trees whose fruit we can devour over and over on our merry adventures. There will be many of them, delivering all sorts of delicious, refreshing nibbles. That might be a stretch, but it certainly sounds like Collins-Laflamme has found a way to make this happen. We'll have to see when Hytale arrives in early access, which is due on January 13.
