NFL Retro Bowl '26 takes the top spot for Apple Arcade. Apple has revealed the most-downloaded games on iPhone and iPad for this year, as well as the top Apple Arcade titles. The lists contain quite a few familiar faces--like Fortnite and Minecraft--but Balatro stands out for 2025. That's because the game not only shows up on the paid mobile charts, but it's also No. 3 for Apple Arcade--the subscription service. Fortnite is No. 2 for free iPhone games and No. 3 for free iPad games. The battle-royale title finally returned to iOS in May in the US after roughly five years, as developer Epic Games and Apple engaged in a lengthy legal battle. Meanwhile, Minecraft claimed the top spots for paid iPhone and iPad games. That makes it two years in a row, as Minecraft held both positions in the most-downloaded App Store games for 2024, too. The top free iPhone game is Block Blast, with Roblox taking the top spot in free iPad titles. Meanwhile, sports games reign supreme on Apple Arcade: NFL Retro Bowl '26 is No. 1, followed by NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition at No. 2. Other notable names are Pokemon TCG Pocket (No. 5 free iPhone game), Stardew Valley (No. 7 paid iPhone game and No. 3 paid iPad game), and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete (No. 9 paid iPhone game and No. 7 paid iPad game).
