The popular streamer also announced she won't be returning to the event after being a guest for over a decade.
Popular Twitch streamer Emiru has publicly challenged Twitch's official response following an assault at her TwitchCon meet-and-greet, calling its statement "a blatant lie." The incident, which was caught on video, shows a man bypassing event barriers to approach Emiru, grabbing her face in an attempt to kiss her before being shoved away by a security guard.
While Twitch claimed in a statement that the individual was "immediately" removed and banned, Emiru contests that the response was delayed and ineffective, adding that Twitch staff failed to intervene or check on her well-being afterward.

Twitch's statement emphasized its commitment to safety, condemning the assailant's actions as "unacceptable and deeply upsetting." The platform claimed it had blocked the individual from returning to the event and issued a permanent ban from Twitch and its associated events. It also outlined enhanced security measures for the remainder of TwitchCon, including additional personnel around meet-and-greet areas. However, Emiru's detailed recount of the events suggests a significant discrepancy between Twitch's official narrative and what she says occurred on the ground.
According to Emiru, the man was allowed to cross multiple security barriers without interference and was only stopped by a member of her own team, not official TwitchCon staff. She expressed feeling "shaken" and more disturbed by Twitch's handling of the aftermath than the incident itself. Emiru also claims that multiple TwitchCon security staff witnessed the assault but did not act, and some were later heard joking about the event. She says she only learned hours later that the man had been apprehended, and only after her manager pushed for action.
"None of the Twitchcon staff came to ask what happened or if I was okay," she posted on social media. "My friend who was present told me Twitch security were also behind the booth afterwards joking about how they didn't even see what happened and immediately laughing and moving on to talking about something else. So if no one was checking if I was okay or if I needed anything and they let the guy run away initially, I have no idea what anyone hired to keep the event safe was doing."
Emiru also announced this would be her last TwitchCon, expressing disappointment after being a long-time attendee. She urged other creators to reconsider their participation in future events, especially those without personal security teams. Meanwhile, Twitch has not directly addressed Emiru's accusations or the claim that the man was allowed to walk away.
