As usual, Square Enix had a heavy presence in today's Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, but hey – Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is old news in more ways than one. The real news is that The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, the HD-2D action-RPG that had an excellent Switch 2 demo last year, is due to launch in June. And, on top of that, it's getting its own pricey Collector's Edition.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales launches on June 18, 2026, across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. While the game's demo, which got a sterling response on its launch last year, currently remains exclusive to Switch 2, the game itself is indeed coming to every major current platform.
Maybe the most surprising part about this announcement is that Square Enix is currently taking pre-orders for a $230 The Adventures of Elliot Collector's Edition. Normally, you'd expect that kind of expensive collectible to be sold for a sequel to an established franchise with a built-in fanbase hungry for merch, but I guess the publisher figures that demo did its job.

Best Buy has just unleashed a Square Enix game sale, and my free time is cooked
The Collector's Edition comes with a diorama featuring fairy character Faie sitting atop protagonist Elliot's hat in front of the game's Door of Time. The package also includes a four-disc soundtrack CD collection, and a handful of in-game goodies also available as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. It of course also includes a physical copy of the game itself on your choice of console platform, though sadly the Switch 2 version is still just a game-key card.
Square Enix also has additional bonuses for those who've played other JRPG releases including Octopath Traveler 0, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Various Daylife, and Triangle Strategy. Save data from each of those games, as detailed on the official site, will unlock magicite weapon upgrades in The Adventures of Elliot.
Don't miss any of the best JRPGs out there.
