Resident Evil Requiem is already one of the highest-rated games in Resident Evil's entire twisted history. And, now, the horror epic can also boast that it's the highest-played game in the long-running series, too. At least on Steam.
Resident Evil Requiem came out earlier today, and within just an hour of its digital release, the game reached a whopping 267,509 players who were fighting mutant monsters on Steam at the same time. Of course, those launch numbers don't take into account the Resident Evil fans logged in on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch 2, but paint a promising picture.
Resident Evil Requiem's concurrent Steam peak also immediately soared above any other game in the series, quickly snatching the crown from Resident Evil 4's remake (which has a 168,000 peak) and statistically proving "hot uncle" Leon Kennedy is far superior to fresh-faced twinky Leon Kennedy. (In fairness, the aged and tortured icon was practically perfected in a lab by a team of women at Capcom, to whom I'm eternally grateful for.)

Resident Evil Village's 106,000 Steam player peak, Resident Evil 2 remake's 74,000 peak, and Resident Evil 3 remake's 60,000 peak have all been overtaken as well, naturally.
Does Resident Evil Requiem have what it takes to make it onto our list of the best horror games ever?
