Players will soon be able to get their hands on the first-ever PUBG spin-off. Nearly a year ago, Krafton launched the beta test for PUBG: Blindspot, the first-ever spin-off from PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (not counting PUBG Mobile). Now, Krafton has announced that Blindspot is getting an early-access release on February 5. This title differs from its predecessor by embracing a top-down perspective and focusing on 5v5 battles in a tactical showdown. Attacking teams are tasked with making their way through a building in order to break into a vault and install a device called the Decrypter. Specific weapons like grenade launchers and explosive hammers can break down the walls standing between the players and their goal. Defending players can set up barricades to slow down their adversaries, but these are battles that ultimately come down to gunplay. Want us to remember this setting for all your devices? Krafton describes it as a "launch-ready level of quality" in support of ongoing development. "Early access will allow players to directly participate in the development process," said the game's production director, Seungmyeong Yang, in a statement. "Through free-to-play, open development, we aim to communicate closely with the community and complete PUBG: Blindspot together." For now, PUBG: Blindspot will only be available on PC. The game is free-to-play, and Krafton has announced plans to support the game through monthly updates while incorporating player feedback via the game's Discord channel. Krafton has previously shared its desire to see PUBG become a platform like Fortnite. The company has also taken some heat for its stated goal of becoming an "AI-first" company. PUBG creator Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has gone on record as saying that he is "really heartened" by the backlash to AI in the gaming space. Greene is still affiliated with Krafton, but he is working on new titles including his open-world survival experience Prologue: Go Wayback, which debuted in early access last year.
