New Blood Interactive founder Dave Oshry has said the new Palworld x Ultrakill crossover came about because Palworld's weapon artist is a huge fan and the team asked nicely. Pocketpair released a new trailer over the weekend to show off its upcoming 'Home Sweet Home' update, finally detailing what's actually included in its crossover event with the beloved FPS game Ultrakill, announced back in September of this year as the second crossover after Palworld's Terraria update. But for a game that is somewhat Pokemon-esque, many wondered how Terraria and Ultrakill happened over what were perhaps more obvious crossovers, to which Palworld communications director John 'Bucky' Buckley said was because "we like them." Now that the trailer is out, a fan reacted to V1 and V2's appearance in the trailer and asked Oshry how this happened, to which he responded simply, "The weapon artist on Palworld is a huge Ultrakill fan. They asked nicely :)." As Palworld gears up for another indie collab, dev says "it's a dream come true to be trusted by the developers of our favorite games" and the Terraria and Ultrakill crossovers happened because "we like them" After Terraria, Palworld devs team up with another indie legend: FPS Ultrakill, and you're not gonna believe this, it's got guns: "Blood is fuel. Hell is full" Pocketpair dates Palworld's second collab, this time with hugely-acclaimed FPS Ultrakill, and again teases a Legendary Pal first shown off years ago for 1.0 Bucky then elaborated, giving a timeline of events, saying, "Our weapon designer on Palworld loves Ultrakill. New Blood were in Japan for BitSummit. I invited Dave to come and meet him, they shook hands, then I emailed Dave and said pretty please." He also shared the beginning of an email pitching the idea, which was originally "adding a gun or two from Ultrakill into Palworld," which has obviously grown into something else. So if you take the fact that both major collabs were born from the developers liking a game, I think I have a pretty good idea of Palworld's next collab, given how much the Palworld developers like Megabonk – especially Bucky, who hasn't been able to stop talking about it. Palworld team announcement tease reminds us 2025 isn't over yet: "Thinking we should announce one final publishing game for the year"
