Mario's next movie is out of this world.
After a quick teaser during the September Nintendo Direct, a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy movie has been revealed. The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled to be released on April 3, 2026, and it once again features the vocal talents of the 2023 film's cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser.
Joining the cast for this new adventure is Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) as Princess Rosalina--and who also happens to be a big Mario Galaxy fan--and Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer) as Bowser Jr. The Mario Galaxy trailer is full of Easter eggs, which we've separately rounded up.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a big hit at the box office, taking in over $1.36 billion globally during its run and becoming the biggest video game movie ever. Not just commercially successful, the film earned positive reviews, and Jack Black's "Peaches" song became a viral earworm for a few months as well. One of the new additions to the film will be Yoshi, as a Pillsbury box recently leaked a first look at Mario's fan-favorite dinosaur pal.
Next year and beyond is shaping up to be a busy time for video game adaptations, as we'll also see a live-action adaptation of Silent Hill 2 hit the big screen on January 23, 2026. Filming is also underway on the Zach Cregger-directed Resident Evil movie, and Mortal Kombat 2 is out on May 8, 2026.
Dozens of other video game movies are in varying stages of development, but if you're feeling impatient for something related to video games, you can catch Five Nights at Freddy's 2 on December 5.
