Since Highguard closed out last year's The Game Awards, we've been waiting with bated breath to hear more about the new shooter from Titanfall and Apex Legends devs. Not much has been happening around the forthcoming FPS, and with an apparent release date in less than a week, curiosity is high. Rumblings indicate things are moving, but to what extent remains to be seen. The game's SteamDB gives us the details. At the time of writing, there have been several recent changes to the product page on Steam, including multiple languages added, a change in user tags, and some updated assets. That may sound like a lot on paper, but it's less than it may seem. The user tags come with a rather large asterisk, as they're not entirely developer-controlled. What tags are associated with any given product on Valve's store can be altered by recurring descriptors from users. This is to allow players to push back against potentially misleading labels and guide others to games they’ll really want to check out. Highguard is a PvP fantasy experience pretty far removed from the Allies versus the Axis. What's more intriguing are the different assets that've been put in. Available tools to check a public page before and after such a change are limited, and the Wayback Machine doesn't show anything obvious, but it more readily points to developer Wildlight Entertainment doing something. Highguard is due to arrive on January 26, and we've no explicit reason to think otherwise. We'll find out what's going on one way or another soon enough.
