Monster Hunter Wilds has received a new patch on PC, and it looks like this is finally the one that does the trick.
Capcom detailed the new patch in a post on the Monster Hunter Wilds Steam news page. Firstly, Capcom acknowledged the bug that caused the game to run better in base camp when a player owned all of the game's DLC, saying, "After receiving user reports, our internal testing confirmed that CPU load could increase around the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub" and that "This is an unintended bug and will be resolved with this update."
The fixes include adjustments to both texture streaming and the high-resolution texture pack to reduce VRAM usage and a reduction to "shader warming processes performed outside the shader compilation screen to lower CPU load." Capcom also introduced new options, with a CPU tab allowing for adjustments of settings related to CPU load and new graphics settings and adjusted presets.

Monster Hunter Wilds' new update falls short of impressing the RPG's fans after performance comparisons from Capcom
Monster Hunter Wilds wizard says the PC port's infamously wonky performance can be fixed if it believes you own its DLC
Capcom also released some details about the next patch, which is set to arrive on February 18, 2026, saying, "we are currently verifying measures to reduce GPU processing load by adding quality levels (LOD) to the polygon mesh for 3D models. This may help to reduce processing load by swapping to low-resolution models for objects farther away from the camera."
And despite last month's update falling short of impressing players, reception to Monster Hunter Wilds Ver.1.040.03.01 has been mostly positive.
Monster Hunter fan account MidnightBoshi on Twitter posted "this game runs like BUTTER its impressive how much more fun this game can become once it can actually runs with decent graphics! My graphics are on High and for the first time ever it was a Steady 60 to 70 frames the entier [sic] hunt!" adding, "THEY DID IT!"
Another fan, called @0RO_KUR0, adds, "I'm actually glad Capcom continues to give this game support in spite of everything. "
While a recent Steam review says "main problem with the game was poor performance, new update really improved it. Nearly doubled my fps from about 40 to 70." Another user reports that the game is "actually playable on my Steam Deck now," which is wild to think about considering the best PCs were struggling with it all year. So hopefully by the time the eventual G Rank expansion drops the performance issues will be a distant memory.
Monster Hunter Wilds has sold 11 million copies, Capcom says, but it's barely clinging to the best-seller list thanks to the likes of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.
