Tanks are one of the most powerful vehicles in Battlefield Redsec, but you need to complete some complicated steps to unlock them in a match.
Tanks are at the center of controversy in the early stages of Battlefield Redsec. Just like in Battlefield 6 multiplayer, you can use tanks throughout a match in the battle royale, which can allow you to steamroll your way to victory if no enemies have equipped the Engineer class or anti-vehicle equipment. However, tanks can be dealt with rather swiftly as long as you have rockets or an AV mine in your inventory.
Regardless of how you choose to interact with tanks in Redsec, they are not easily obtainable during a match. Instead of being out in the open for anyone to drive, you need to go through a few different steps to unlock your very own tank.
There are only a few tanks that can be driven in any Redsec match, and each one is unlocked roughly the same way. Unlike helicopters, Humvees, and golf carts, all of which can be found freely across the map, unlocking tanks requires you to complete missions in Redsec.
Missions are similar to contracts in Call of Duty: Warzone, requiring you to complete specific objectives. If you manage to complete the mission, you'll be rewarded with special loot, such as custom weapon drops (your class loadouts). One of the rarer rewards you can earn from completing missions, though, is a Vehicle Keycard.
The vehicle keycard isn't a guaranteed reward from every mission that's available during a match. Instead, it's a relatively rare reward that can only be earned from a few randomized missions. You can also obtain a vehicle keycard as loot from chests in Redsec, but this is incredibly rare and not worth relying on. You're much better off sticking with completing missions to obtain the keycard.
If you look at your "Missions" tab in Redsec, you can go through each one and see which offers the Vehicle Keycard as a reward. The missions tab unlocks shortly after you drop into a match and can be viewed by pressing your mini-map button. You can then tab through your missions on the right side of the map.
You'll receive three missions at the start of every Redsec match, and they are randomized. Three new missions are scrambled every minute, so you're not stuck with the same three for the entire duration of a match. Your missions aren't guaranteed to reward you with a vehicle keycard, so you'll have to keep completing missions in a match until you find one that offers it. However, only one mission can be completed at a time.
The vehicle keycard is considered "superior loot" and has a yellow background in the mission briefing window. When you find a mission that offers the vehicle keycard, head to its location on the map, complete the mission, and you'll receive the vehicle keycard as loot that can be picked up off the ground. If you're playing in a duo or squad, only one team member can carry the vehicle keycard in their inventory, so make sure a reliable teammate has it--and pick it up if they happen to lose it along with their life.
Once you loot the vehicle keycard, you'll see a "Garage" marked on your mini-map. Go to the garage's location, use the keycard on the garage door keypad, and you can head inside to find your own tank waiting to be driven.
Tanks will need to be resupplied after using them for an extended period of time, and if you don't have an Engineer to repair the vehicle, you likely won't last long inside one. Fortunately, we have some beginner tips in Battlefield Redsec that should help you dominate matches with a tank if you happen to get one.
