Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions
The Sorcerer's Stone is available now, exclusively on Audible.
Audible's highly anticipated Full-Cast Audio Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is available now. The Audible-exclusive production of the first Harry Potter novel retails for $30, but fans can buy it for as low as $0.99 thanks to an ongoing Audible Premium Plus promotion.
New Audible Premium Plus subscribers can get their first three months for $0.99/month. The Premium Plus tier normally costs $14.95, so needless to say, this is an excellent offer for audiobook lovers. Each month, Premium Plus members get one Audible credit that can be used to purchase any audiobook in the catalog, including new releases like Sorcerer's Stone and preorders like the upcoming Harry Potter sequels. Books purchased with Audible credits remain accessible even if you cancel your subscription; it's no different than paying cash. Essentially, you're getting three audiobooks for three bucks--plus access to thousands of other audiobooks and podcasts while you're subscription is active.
Audible is releasing one Harry Potter book each month, so if you're eligible for the promotion, that means you'll also be able to get Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban for 99 cents each. Here's the full release schedule for Harry Potter's Full-Cast Audio Edition series:
All seven novels are performed in their original unabridged format. The Sorcerer's Stone's Full-Cast Edition is 8 hours and 41 minutes, slightly longer than previous audiobook versions.
Traditional audiobooks are typically narrated by one or few actors. For instance, Harry Potter's other two audiobook editions were performed by one narrator. The well-regarded US editions are narrated by Jim Dale. The UK editions are wonderfully narrated by Stephen Fry and finally released in the US in 2015.
Full-cast editions are more like movies and TV shows in that each character is voiced by a different actor. And considering how many characters are featured in the seven-book Harry Potter series, the Full-Cast Audio Editions were a massive production--probably Audible's biggest yet. Check out the star-studded list of voice talent featured in the Sorcerer's Stone below.

The exposition is narrated by actress Cush Jumbo OBE (The Good Wife, Criminal Record). The core trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron have two sets of performers. Younger actors voice the characters in the first three books, and older actors will step into the roles starting with Goblet of Fire. Audible secured some big names for major roles in the first book, including Hugh Laurie, Matthew MacFadyen, and Riz Ahmed. Check out the list of characters below to see who is playing the major roles in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's Full-Cast Audio Edition.

If you aren't eligible for Amazon's Audible Premium Plus new subscriber promotion, it still makes sense to sign up and purchase the audiobook with a credit rather than cash. You can spend your first credit on Sorcerer's Stone, but if you decide you want to buy another audiobook, members can purchase additional Audible credits for $15 each. Most of the time, purchasing additional credits is cheaper than the audiobook's monetary price. Members get exclusive discounts on every book in the catalog, but new releases are typically priced higher than $15. For instance, Sorcerer's Stone is $21 (was $30) for Audible Premium Plus subscribers--so you'll save $6 by purchasing it with a credit.
Audible Premium has thousands of audiobooks, podcasts, and original productions for subscribers to listen to whenever they want. Members also have access to exclusive discounts; Audible has monthly promotions and regular limited-time deals on popular titles. The major perk of the Premium Plus tier is the aforementioned Audible credit each month. Unused credits roll over each month, but you will lose any unspent credits if you cancel your subscription, so make sure to spend them first.
After the three-month trial, you will be charged $14.95/month going forward unless you cancel before your renewal date. As an alternative to canceling, you could switch to Audible Premium, the $7.95/month subscription tier that includes the same rotating catalog of content, just without the credit each month.
