Alien: Fate of the Nostromo Board Game
Right in time for Halloween, Amazon is offering four horror movie board games at discounted prices. You can pick up Funko's Scream The Game for $11.49 (was $20), Emerson Matsuuchi's Halloween The Board Game for $50.50 (was $60) and its follow-up, Halloween II The Board Game for $29.77 (was $60). And fans of sci-fi horror--or those who prefer co-op board games--can grab Alien: Fate of the Nostromo from Ravensburger for $28 (was $35). Each game offers an easy-to-learn, pick-up-and-play experience that pays homage to its respective source material. The Scream board game even has an option to download a free mobile app with music and narration to enhance the experience. Halloween and Halloween II are asymmetrical multiplayer games where one person plays as Michael Myers, while Alien: Fate of the Nostromo has you play through the plot of the film and evade the terrifying Xenomorph.
This 3 to 9 player game is super quick and easy to set up and learn, with games lasting about 20 minutes. You can also download the free app with background music and original narration by Ghost Face voice actor Roger L. Jackson to accompany the experience.
Similar to asymmetric video games based on cult horror films, Halloween the Board Game pits 2 to 4 players against each other in roughly hour-long showdowns, with one player controlling the iconic slasher Michael Myers and the rest of the group working together to escape him.
Halloween II the Board Game features the same asymmetrical competitive gameplay as the first game, but with new characters, mechanics, rules, and cards.
Alien: Fate of the Nostromo is a cooperative board game in which players assume the iconic roles of the Nostromo crew from the original film. Sessions last around an hour, and the game features difficulty scaling and multiple unique objectives, so no two sessions are the same. The game also provides an online video tutorial for setting up and learning to play.
If you're a trivia fan, Amazon also has two horror-themed Trivial Pursuit games available. Trivial Pursuit: Horror Movie Edition is a great option for a quick, pick-up-and play experience for your next game night or casual hang out. This version includes 600 questions about the last century of horror movies, and is available at Amazon fro $22. However, hardcore horror afficionados will probably want to check out the Trivial Pursuit Horror Ultimate Edition, which features 1,800 questions (that's 1,200 more than the base version), and is currently on sale at Amazon for $47.68 (was $53).
