French unions, Solidaires Informatique, STVJV, and CFE CGC, have collectively asked employees of Ubisoft Paris to "stop working" if the company's chairman and CEO, Yves Guillemot, "steps foot" in the studio's offices. Ubisoft recently proposed "voluntary mutual termination" to the Paris branch of the company, which would see 200 employees out of work. An email sent to employees that was reported on by BFM TV sees a union representative claim that this proposal "goes against the agreement recently signed by the management of human resources, to not affect the number of employees." Ubisoft returns with more bad news, proposing "voluntary" layoffs that could cut up to 200 people at its France location Former Assassin's Creed boss reportedly sues Ubisoft for nearly $1 million over "constructive dismissal" allegations As Ubisoft shuts down a freshly-unionized studio, worker's union says it will "pursue every legal recourse" This latest proposition from Ubisoft comes after a number of layoffs and cancellations have disrupted the company extensively. A statement from Solidaires Informatique reads, "letting an out-of-control boss destroy our working conditions is out of the question. Perhaps he needs a reminder that it's his employees who make the games." An employee representative for Ubisoft Paris took a less subtle approach with demonstrating their anger at the proposition, "It's wild," they say to BFM TV. "Does he [Yves Guillemot] want to save money or fire people?" They conclude: "He [...] should be removed from the company's management. He is in the process of screwing everything up and f***ing the company." Latest Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake leak prompts Ubisoft to directly respond with a classic GTA San Andreas meme – "Ah, s***, here we go again."
