A new report states that the horror franchise isn't part of EA's plans at all currently. The Dead Space franchise is reportedly "on ice" at EA. And no, we're not referring to the frozen planet of Tau Volantis, the setting for Dead Space 3. Basically, there are no plans for a new sequel, remake, or even reboot of the survival-horror franchise. Want us to remember this setting for all your devices? Now Playing: The Complete DEAD SPACE Timeline Explained! The report adds that the same sources hope the company might sell the Dead Space franchise after EA sold itself for $55 billion to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, and the private equity firm Silver Lake. The deal could lead to $20 billion in debt. As such, there's speculation EA could auction off Dead Space to help pay off that gigantic amount. But that raises questions: What company would want to acquire Dead Space? And would the sum be even a drop in the bucket against $20 billion? In October, Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield revealed that he's made calls about the series. Schofield claims he can save EA up to $40 million on the idea he has for Dead Space. In addition, Schofield--whose background includes The Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty: WWII--believes EA could sell the franchise, too, as he believes it's a prime candidate for a TV show or movie. The latest place that Dead Space popped up was with a controversial bundle in the free-to-play Skate. The roughly $35 add-on included a cardboard-style Isaac Clarke costume, a themed skateboard, and Necro Stomp emote.
