Could another big Cyberpunk 2077 update be on the way? December 10 marks the fifth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077, and developer CD Projekt is teasing something to mark the occasion. On its social media channels, the company posted a "Cyberpunk 2077 birthday and anniversary calendar" image alongside a cryptic message. "Secure comms channel established. Standby for incoming priority transmission," the message reads, with images of characters and dates accompanying it. The tweet hints at something happening on December 10--the day Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020--and another on December 12 linked to Solomon Reed. On December 19, it looks like we'll hear from the songbird herself, Song So Mi. SECURE COMMS CHANNEL ESTABLISHED. The studio has supported Cyberpunk 2077 extensively since its rocky launch, rolling out major updates to improve the game's quality. These fixes eventually led to the release of the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion--from which both Reed and Songbird originate--and since then, CDPR has added even more content to the game. Gameplay overhauls and a highly customizable photo mode were just the tip of the iceberg, helping to transform Cyberpunk 2077 into one of CDPR's best-selling games. The tale of how Cyberpunk 2077 recovered and transformed itself has become one of the best comeback stories in gaming, and it led to massive structural changes at the studio. Work on Cyberpunk 2 kicked off a few years ago at CDPR's Warsaw, Vancouver, and Boston studios. In CD Projekt's recent earnings release, the company said that it had increased the number of people working on it to 135, while the bulk of the organization is currently assigned to The Witcher 4. It aims to have over 300 people working on Cyberpunk 2 by 2027, while its other in-development projects include a multiplayer Witcher game, a new IP under the codename Hadar, a remake of the original Witcher, and a new game based on one of CD Projekt's IP.
