Beyond Good and Evil 2's creative director Fawzi Mesmar has confirmed that the game is still in development despite six other Ubisoft games being canceled in the company's recent "major reset." Last week Ubisoft made a statement claiming that "Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains a priority for us in the context of our strategy centered around Open World Adventures." However, as the company made numerous reassurances that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake was still in development before unceremoniously canceling it alongside five other games, people are understandably skeptical of what company statements have to say. Mesmar took to LinkedIn (thanks, IGN) to confirm that his team is still working on the game 18 years after a Beyond Good and Evil sequel was first teased. "Thank you for everyone who has reached out to me over the past few days in regards to recent news at Ubisoft," the post starts. "Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes. I would direct you to the official press release for more information around the latest organisational structure." "I urge everyone – myself included – to offer support whenever and however they can during these times." The post ends by reaffirming how the team is planning to make the game the best it can. "We remain committed and focused on delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy," it reads. Hopefully, it'll be so remarkable that it's worth the almost-two-decade-long wait.
