Battlefield Studios has XP farms in its crosshairs. Battlefield Studios has addressed the Battlefield 6 progression elephant in the room, explaining how it intends to patch out "XP farms" and improve player development in the long term. In a future update, players can look forward to a big boost to experience points gained from match completion--increasing from 10% to 40%--and Battlefield Studios added that the XP needed to unlock attachment ranks will also be significantly reduced. These updates come at a time when players have begun reporting that servers were filled to maximum capacity, as players would join matches populated with bots so that they could farm for XP quickly and improve their stats by taking on opponents who don't pose as much of a threat as your typical human player. "With so many servers focused on farming XP rather than active play, it's become noticeably harder for players to create and find experiences to play with other people. Our goal moving forward here is to reinforce the player-driven experiences that bring people together, while still keeping room for custom setups, creativity, and new ideas." The studio explained that it's "developing adjustments" that will reduce the number of active XP farms, freeing up server space for players in the process. Gameplay and the exceptionally bright lighting of Battlefield 6 will also be tweaked in future updates. Battlefield 6 has had the "biggest opening ever" for the Battlefield series, EA confirmed this week. The game has sold over 7 million copies so far on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and on Steam, Battlefield 6 reached a peak concurrent-player record of more than 747,000 players. How many of those players will stick around for the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1 on October 28 remains to be seen, and next month, Battlefield 6's old rival Call of Duty will return with a new entry in the Black Ops series.
