Ubisoft confirms that Assassin's Creed Shadows won't receive the previously planned second DLC. Assassin's Creed Shadows received its first DLC Expansion, Claws of Awaji, back in September. However, plans for the game's second DLC expansion are no longer going forward according to Ubisoft. "As of now, at this moment for Year Two, there is no expansion on the size of Awaji that is planned," said Simon Lemay-Comtois--Ubisoft's associate game director during an interview with JorRaptor (via IGN). Lemay-Comtois went on to explain that while there will still be post-launch content for Shadows, "It's not a full-on DLC the way a season pass would have had in the previous years ... Any content we want to do in Year Two will probably be more sparse, not a drip-feed... but chunkier updates that shake things up a little more. I'm not announcing anything at this point, but our strategy for Year One was to be quick and reactive, so it means smaller drops often, but for Year Two we don't need to put fires out or anything, so it's more what good, chunky little piece of meat... we can drop and have people come back and enjoy it." Ubisoft previously supported the most recent Assassin's Creed titles with two-to-three expansions each. Assassin's Creed Mirage recently received a free expansion two years after its initial release. Claws of Awaji was originally meant to be a paid expansion, but Ubisoft shifted gears by giving it away for free to make up for Shadows' delay. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently revealed that Shadows was pushed back because of the backlash against the game. That backlash was largely centered on the game's male protagonist, Yasuke, a Black samurai who was inspired by a real historical figure. A separate report indicated that a Civil War-inspired Assassin's Creed game was cancelled because it would have been considered too controversial in the United States. Although there won't be any more full-length adventures with Shadows' leading characters, Naoe and Yasuke, they are both featured in a free limited-time mission that;s part of an Attack on Titan collaboration. However, that mission will no longer be available after December 22. In the meantime, Assassin's Creed Shadows will be ported to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2.
