After topping Steam in 2022, "Thief with guns" FPS shouted out by Cyberpunk 2077 devs is back with a map-focused update that's reigniting fans' love: "Here goes my sleep schedule again"

First pitched as a "Thief with guns" experience, dark survival FPS Gloomwood launched into Early Access on Steam back in 2022 – and since then, it's managed to rack up thousands of "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews.
There have been updates here and there over the past few years, too, breathing new life into the Early Access title – and its latest patch is no exception. Arriving shortly after the bigger Hightown Update, which dropped in January, the more recent Cartographer's Update adds a few different features and fixes to Gloomwood. First, there's now a handy mirror dimension connection to Hightown and a portal back to the market district.
The market district itself boasts a new map shop that sells, you guessed it, maps. There are fresh maps of the market and plaza, because, you know, it's the Cartographer's Update, after all – but the fun doesn't end with them. The pig-faced Constables are now spawnable (and buffed), and there are plenty more quality-of-life tweaks as well. From improved throwing to a quicksave-enabling button at the start menu, there's a lot to look forward to.
After Highguard fans feared the worst, the FPS from Titanfall vets suddenly gets a new map with another mode on the way
New FPS from Titanfall devs shows signs of life after weeks of radio silence, and just days before its release date
New FPS Highguard has a full year of updates "deep in development," split up to counteract "live-service fatigue"
It's the perfect re-entry point into the Early Access game that Cyberpunk 2077 devs shouted out themselves, if you ask me, and comments underneath the patch notes show others agree. As one fan excitedly puts, "Welp, here goes my sleep schedule again, but GLOOMWOOD's way more important!!!" Others question how many more updates are in the dark survival gem's future before 1.0, now that it's been nearly four years.
There's no telling for certain, but for now, developers write that they're working on controller support next. That sounds like it'll provide the perfect excuse to hop back in-game yet again – albeit cozied up, Steam Deck in hand. Until then, maps...
